Gospel Groove

A group of gosepl singers singing and dancing on stage
Rhythm, harmony, and a whole lotta soul in this workshop! Immerse yourself in the uplifting world of a cappella Gospel singing in this dynamic two-hour workshop led by popular Sydney choir director Steve Clarke, and joined by members of his choir, The Honeybees. Together, you'll learn three inspiring Gospel songs by ear, honouring the rich oral tradition and infectious spirit at the heart of the genre. Expect plenty of joyful singing and movement, with simple body percussion, soaring four-part harmony, and the irresistible call-and-response style that captures the essence of Gospel music. Along the way, Steve will also share insights into the powerful role Gospel music played during the American Civil Rights Movement, adding depth and context to this vibrant musical tradition. No prior singing experience is needed — just bring your enthusiasm, jump into the group, and feel the groove of Gospel singing!
